Annual Giving

What is an Annual Fund?

An Annual Fund supports a school’s current fiscal year operating budget with funding for financial aid, faculty salaries and continuing education, lab and classroom equipment, as well as other maintenance and improvements for the campus.

Doesn't tuition cover these expenses?

Yes, but only partially. In independent schools, tuition normally covers about 80% of the cost of a child’s education. At St. Andrew’s, tuition covers an even lower percentage.

Why not just raise tuition?

If tuition were increased to cover all educational expenses, many families would be unable to send their children to St. Andrew’s. Gifts to the Annual Fund ensure that tuition remains affordable while still maintaining the high level of quality associated with a St. Andrew’s Academy education. Also, contributions to the Annual Fund are fully tax-deductible, while tuition is not. Students are the priority at St. Andrew’s, and we do not want any qualified student to be unable to attend because of cost.

Why does my participation matter?

Before outside funding sources such as foundations and corporations will consider donating their dollars to St. Andrew’s, they want to know that Academy families, board members, faculty and administration are supporters as well. With today’s increasingly competitive philanthropic market, widespread participation in an annual giving program is a powerful statement to these organizations as they make giving decisions. Also, the costs of operating the Academy increase every year. To maintain the caliber of the St. Andrew’s Academy experience we need participation from the entire St. Andrew’s community.

How much should I give?

St. Andrew’s has a limited donor base compared to a university or large charity, or even a larger well-established independent school, so each gift carries proportionally more weight. As a result, we hope our Academy community will choose to make St. Andrew’s its philanthropic priority, and we encourage you to consider the most generous amount you can cheerfully give. Regardless of the level, any gift is an expression of your support.

Will I receive a tax benefit from my gift?

Yes. St. Andrew’s is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation under the laws of the United States. No goods or services will be received in exchange for your gift, so it will be tax deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law. Written recognition of your gift will be provided for tax purposes. Please contact your tax professional for further information.
