Religious Formation and Study that is meaningful, academically substantive, and age-appropriate; and in teaching the Christian tradition, fosters dialogue with other faith traditions. Social Justice, which is the integration of the ideals and concepts of equity, justice, and a just society throughout the life of the school; the embracing and honoring of diversity; and the inclusion of community service and service-learning as an integral part of the life of the school.
Starting with our youngest learners, we know that Early Childhood Education (ECE) lays the foundation for remarkable and accelerated learning. Indeed, studies agree that brain development from birth to age five is more rapid than at any other point in a person’s life, even though our brains continue to grow through adulthood. At St. Andrew’s, we make the most of this developmental phase in a highly nurturing and caring environment. Children in our PreK program make incredible strides as each day presents a new learning opportunity and discovery. Our quality programs set our youngest students up for a lifelong enthusiasm for learning.
St. Andrew’s Episcopal Academy’s Early Childhood Education program promotes exploration and discovery as a way of learning, enabling children to develop confidence, creativity, and lifelong critical thinking skills. Like all our instruction throughout the Academy, this provides the foundation on which we build upon. Our instructors provide positive reinforcement to our students, along with feedback to their parents to help them foster that same environment at home.
At St. Andrew’s Episcopal Academy, our elementary division knows that, in these formative years, students will acquire important literacy, numeracy, creativity and communication skills. Our highly qualified classroom instructors incorporate a variety of multi sensory activities aligned to the weekly target skills in Language Arts, Science, Math and Social Studies to ensure students are actively engaged throughout the learning process. Our blended learning instruction employs strategies that build on conceptual reasoning, problem solving and logical thinking. Students have Classroom Advisors, designed to support each student in all areas of life, that allows students the comfort of having a faculty liaison that is there for academic and social support.
At St. Andrew’s Episcopal Academy, our experiential instruction model provides opportunities for middle school students to process and reinforce information and to connect the new information with previous learning. As thinking and learning become more abstract in 6th, 7th and 8th grade, our students have a predictable and safe environment so that they can risk, explore, and grow. Middle school reinforces our students’ confidence within themselves, so that when challenges or obstacles occur, they have the courage to persevere. Our middle school instructors facilitate and structure these experiences for students to shape the belief in their own capabilities, resulting in a student body that can problem solve and critically think in a purposeful way.
The St. Andrew’s High School experience is distinctive and expansive.
